Angel FIre, NM to Burlington, CO

Today was another long day. It started out in Cimmeron, NM where we camped and it was really foggy and cold. Unfortunately, it stayed pretty cold for most of the day. I was wearing my winter coat the whole day and I was glad that I had it on.

Our first stop was in Raton, NM. The local motorcycle group had raised funds for us and they paid for gas for the ENTIRE group. Even the Mayor was there to support the riders. Again, the hospitality towards the group is showing again. There is so much support for this group. I am amazed every day at something that someone says or does.

Welcome to Colorado!

The trip to La Junta, CO went through the Comanche National grasslands. It was about as wide open a space as you can find. There was nothing but grasslands as far as you could see in every direction. It was very scenic.

We stopped in La Junta, CO where the local citizens provided us with sloppy joes for lunch. They were very good. Again, more great support from another local group!

We finished off the day in Burlington, CO where the local VFW provided us with Hamburgers and chips. The camping there was probably the best we have had so far. The ground was soft and covered with thick grass and we had HOT showers and bathrooms right nearby! A hot shower is going to feel really nice in the morning. It will be the first “hot” shower that I have had since I left Temecula.
