Riding through the Catskills...

Today Ricky, Larry, Larry’s daughter Kayla, Larry’s son Casey and I all decided that we were going to go on a ride to the catskills and Woodstock, NY. It was in the 36 degrees this morning. I can't believe that it is this cold and it's June. We left a little later than we had originally planned so the weather would warm up a little first.

We finally got going a few minutes after 11:00. We stopped at one of the local motorcycle shops so that Larry and Ricky could stop and get their state inspections on their motorcycles. The guy who did the inspections wasn’t around so we decided to stop on the way back and get the inspections.

As we were leaving, Ricky was having some problems with his motorcycle and he pulled over. Casey and I stopped to see what was wrong. He said that his back wheel was wobbling. We pulled over and after looking at the back tire, we found that the bearings on his motorcycle were bad. That's not very good for any motorcycle, especially one that is only three days old.

Ricky called the Dealer where he bought his motorcycle and they said they would come out and pick up his motorcycle and fix it. Keith came and picked him up and the rest of us continued on our ride.

We rode to the Catskills and which was a nice scenic ride. We stopped along the way at an overlook that was very nice, the trees had grown up a little too far, so you couldn’t see much unless you went into the restaurant, which was closed, but it was still a pretty impressive view.

We continued riding through the Catskills and it was really nice riding. There were lots of hill and lots of winding roads and the weather warmed up a lot.

We stopped for lunch in Phoenicia, NY. It was a quiet little town that looked like it got a lot of tourists. We stopped at a nice little restaurant that was supposed to have great burgers. They did!

When we were done with lunch, we rode over to Woodstock Harley-Davidson. We rode through Woodstock, NY. They had the concert just outside of the town. The town was very interesting. There were a lot of “hippies” there and it looked like a town right out of the 60’s. It was definitely something to see.

It was just our luck that Woodstock Harley-Davidson was closed on Mondays. I took the obligatory “I was there” photo and we headed back towards home.

We stopped at the motorcycle shop on the way back to see if Ricky’s motorcycle was picked up and Larry got his motorcycle inspected. They said they came and picked up Ricky’s motorcycle and took it back to Pittsfield, MA a few hours after we left. The Harley dealer said that they would deliver it to Ricky’s house after they got it fixed.

We rode back to Keith’s house and had some pasta and watched TV. Again, it was another early night.
